Balan Madhavan left his banking career to take up wildlife photography full-time. The winner of the Dr. Kiezo Yamaji Prize in the 1992 UN Photo Contest organized in connection with the First Earth Summit, Rio, Brazil, he has been bestowed with the honor of the Associateship of the Royal Photography Society, UK and Artiste’ Federation Internationale d L Art’ Photographique by FIAP, Belgium. Recently, Balan became the only Indian and second Asian photographer admitted as a Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers in which 54 out of the total strength of 60 members are National Geographic veterans. Balan has conducted field projects in Grand Tetons – USA peninsula – Mexico for the iLCP in collaboration with NG, WILD and Conservation International. Balan is also one of the few Canon India and he regularly conducts photo workshops on travel & wildlife photography, museums in association with iLCP traveling exhibitions. He has also conducted photo shoots in UK, USA, UAE, Qatar, Spain, France, Singapore, Malaysia & South Africa. Balan lives in Trivandrum and can be reached at balan@vsnl.com, www.balan.in
